Treatment of Tinea Pedis with Topical Tioconazole

Abstract
|

|
Tioconazole is a newly synthesized 1-substituted imidazole derivative with a broad antifungal spectrum. The comparison was tried between 1511o tioconazole cream and 1% clotrim:azole cream in 40 cases of tinea pedis patients.
Tioconazole was superior in the aspect of subjective improvement than´clotrimazole. And it was observed that the earlier and higher negative conversion of KOH preparation for fungus in the tioconazole treatment group than the clotrimazole group. These observations suggest that tioconazole may have more potent effectiveness than clotrimazole in the treatment of tinea pedis.
